Like many people "in dogs" our love of animals began at quite an early age and many of our fondest memories of childhood include beloved family pets.  Growing up, there was always a family dog and many of Julie's childhood buddies can tell you stories about "Tawny," a beautiful German Shepard mix who showed up one day on the Kielts Family Doorstep in Farmington Hills, Michigan where Julie grew up.  Tawny was the epitome of a loyal dog; she was Julie's friend and confidant and the playmate of many kids in the Woodcreek subdivision in the 1980s!

Julie was forever bringing home strays of all kinds including birds, mice, rabbits, baby ducks that had been abandoned by thier Mothers at the "duck pond" and of course....dogs!  Although we weren't active with Golden Retriever Rescue until 2000, Julie was clearly "rescuing" things many years prior to that!

Our love of Goldens began with the adoption of Prancer from Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida  in 2000.  We fostered many dogs for rescue and are still avid supporters, having done our most recent fundraiser, a dog wash, in March of 2010
We urge anyone looking for a Golden to consider a rescue first, as they truly are diamonds in the rough (especially the Senior Goldens who need assistance)!

We currently share our home with 3 AKC Champion (1 Grand Champion) Goldens and a Parson Russell Terrier!  We co-own several other Goldens with friends around the country that we hope to show in the AKC Conformation Ring.  This arrangement works well for us as we do not have "kennels."  Our dogs are our pets first.  They are house dogs.  They get the individual attention that they crave and so very richly deserve.  They sleep in our beds, swim in our pool, greet our house guests with tennis balls in their mouths and eat our dinner scraps each night!  The fact that a few of them have done well in the show ring is just the icing on the cake!

We are members in good standing of the Golden Retriever Club of America, the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club (Julie was a Board Member and puppy referral liason in 2005 and 2006) and Julie is a founding member and the President of the newly formed Florida Gulf Coast Golden Retriever Club.  We are also proud to be volunteering members of Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida.

Welcome to Questan Goldens new online home!
I chose Questan as a kennel name because it's about a quest for the standard.
